Usability Testing

Try clickable prototypes with a designer, one to one, and tell us where a design confuses or slows you down while it is still cheap to change.

Long before a feature is built, it exists as a set of visual designs. Usability testing is your chance to try those designs and tell us where they confuse, slow down or simply miss the point, while changing them is still cheap.

What happens

  • A short session with a designer, one to one, over video.
  • You are shown a clickable prototype and asked to complete a realistic task, such as scheduling a session or issuing certificates.
  • We watch where you hesitate and listen to what you expected to happen. Nothing you do is wrong; the design is what is being tested.
  • Your feedback goes straight back into the design before development starts.

Who it is for

Anyone who uses iECHO, at any level of confidence with technology. Participants and hub staff who describe themselves as non-technical are especially valuable here, because the platform has to work for everyone.

What it takes

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes, a few times a year, scheduled around your availability. No preparation is needed.

At a glance

  • Frequency: when a new design is ready
  • Format: one to one video session, 30 to 45 minutes
  • Open to: any iECHO user, technical or not
  • Preparation: none

How to join

To volunteer for a session, write to community@iecho.org.

Other ways to take part

Every initiative is free and open to ECHO partners, hub teams and participants. Take part in one or all four:
