Project ECHO Taxonomy Addition & Edit Requests

Learn how to submit requests to add or edit focus areas, professions, organization categories, and academic credentials in iECHO.

When searching for focus areas, professions, academic credentials, organization categories, or other terms within the ECHO Digital Taxonomy, you might not always find an exact match. In such cases, select a synonym or closely related topic, and consider its global relevance within the Project ECHO community.

Note: Details can be changed or adjusted at a later time after a program begins.

iECHO provides the option to request new terms or suggest edits to existing terms in the taxonomy.

To submit a request select the appropriate form from the links below.

Focus Areas - Request Forms

Choosing the right focus areas is key to classifying your program and its goals.

While creating a program, use the search box to find and select up to five focus areas that best describe your program. The focus areas are part of a nested taxonomy, which you will see alongside your search terms as you search within the Focus Area field.

Example:

For a program on Palliative Care for elderly populations, search for and select 'Palliative Care' under the Public Health -> Healthcare hierarchy, and 'Elderly' under the Population Focus -> Age Groups hierarchy.

Ensure your selected focus areas align with your program's main objectives and audience to help others understand its context and goals better.

Professions - Request Forms

iECHO contains professional role categories (for example, "Project Managers") and not exact job titles (for example, "Senior Project Manager in charge of Health Systems").

Organization Categories - Request Forms

  1. Request to add a new organization category

  2. Request to edit an existing academic credential

➡️ iECHO Taxonomy Review and Update Process

The team regularly reviews all suggested terms and edits for the taxonomy. Necessary modifications are made, and approved terms and edits are implemented in iECHO. Translations for non-English languages are handled by the translation team (if needed), and the updated data is synced to iECHO and Salesforce databases by the technical team.
